The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Christian Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
We want it to be of public record that those of any skin color or heritage are welcome here.
We want it to be known that those who suffer from addiction to drugs and alcohol - whether recovering or not - are welcome here.
We want it to be known that women and children are welcome here and they will not be abused or harassed.
We want it to be of public record that in this congregation you can bring children to worship and even if they cry during the whole darn service, they are welcome.
We want it to be known that those who are single by choice, by circumstance, by divorce, or through death of a spouse are welcome here.
We want it to be known that gossips, cheats, and liars are welcome here.
We want it to be known that those with family problems are welcome here.
We want it to be known that homosexuals and heterosexuals and members of their families are welcome here.
We want it to be known that if you're promiscuous, have had an abortion, have been an absent father or mother, you are welcome here.
Let it be public knowledge that we take seriously that "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). The young and the old, the rich and the poor; all of the broken are welcomed here.
We want it to be public knowledge that "we are justified by the grace of God, which is a gift through the redemption which is Christ Jesus our Lord."
May God give us the grace to welcome and forgive one another as Christ welcomes and forgives us!
COME AS YOU ARE. BUT DO NOT LEAVE AS YOU CAME.
